Meet our Board of Directors - Cheryle Frye

At Girls on the Run of Greater Knoxville, our volunteers are the heartbeat of everything we do.

From coaches who bring our evidence-based curriculum to life, to event volunteers who make event days magical, to board members who guide our vision - our work simply wouldn’t be possible without them. This series celebrates the people who make it all happen and offers a closer look at the many ways volunteers power our mission.

Meet our Board Member, Cheryle!

The Basics

Your Name: Cheryle Frye

What is your current job title and company? CFO - Solar Development Group & ESA Solar Energy

Your GOTR Journey

How did you first get involved with Girls on the Run? What inspired you to join the board? I wanted to become more involved in the Knoxville Community

What part of the Girls on the Run mission resonates with you the most and why? Teaching goal setting and taking the steps to attain those goals – great life skills.

What is one of your favorite GOTR moments or memories? So far, I greatly appreciate how I have been welcomed and embraced.  GOTR is definitely a great vibe.

A Little More About You!

When you're not working or volunteering, what's a favorite hobby or way you like to spend your time? Spending time with family – playing with grandkids & torturing the children by spoiling the grandkids -  and taking care of all the animals.

What’s a piece of advice you would give to your younger self? If you always try your best to do the right things, then things have a way of working out for you.  Maybe not exactly like you think, but in the end, it all works for the best or makes you a better person.  The biggest way to relieve stress is to change your mind.

A book, podcast, or song you're loving right now? I grew up in the era of glam rock and techno music.  Was never a fan of AC DC back then, but lately, I LOVE the song Thunderstruck.
